Cease Fire Splits Boko Haram

The cease fire agreement with Nigerian government has split Boko Haram into two groups. While the pro- peace faction wants the cessation of all hostilities; the other group wants the hostilities to continue.

It will be recalled that a meeting by top Boko Haram commanders after the killing of Shekau impostor led to internal fighting that led to death of 13 people.
The captured members also confirmed that there is an internal squabble inside Boko Haram.
It is possible that it is the pro-peace faction that Nigerian government entered agreement with.
An unconfirmed news report has it that, it is indeed the pro-peace faction that Nigerian government entered agreement with in Chad last week.
Nigerian Government and Boko Haram representatives are expected to go back to negotiation table to fine tune the details of the ceasefire agreement on Tuesday. If this succeeds, over 200 kidnapped Chibok girls are expected to be released this week.
Attacks on Shafa in Borno State and Sina, Adamawa State on Friday, may have been carried out by the pro-violence faction. This faction is only interested in setting up strict sharia state in the whole country.
The military is however keeping its side of the peace deal by suspending all hostilities against the
insurgents.
This is in keeping with the directive  issued by the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. He had on Friday ordered the   suspension of all on-going aerial and ground offensives against the sect.
With this renewed violence there is fear that release of kidnapped chibok school girls maybe truncated.
