KILLING THE ABOBAKU IN THE NAME OF TRADITION

"According to Yoruba tradition, a king does not die alone. His burial rites include being buried with other people. This is when an Abobaku comes into the picture. An Abobaku lives his life for the king and he is buried alongside the king. In the authentic tradition, just as there is a lineage that become king, there is also always a family dedicated to the ancient belief of dying with the king. An Abobaku also enjoys great benefits while he is still alive,the man pictured above is the Abobaku, he alone will be buried alive tomorrow friday 14th August 2015 to accompany the late Ooni of Ife as he journeys to meet with his ancestors in the land of the unknown."
 Today the Ooni was buried and my question is this, " Did Nigerian state watch helplessly while the innocent man was buried alive in the name of tradition? What type of Nigerian state are we running if indeed he is buried with the Ooni. I am not happy that the Nigerian police did not swing into action to investigate this absurd act / allegation in order to stop this barbaric act from being carried out under any guise. If indeed that the Abobaku has been buried with the Ooni this  is just a waste of time but will only stand as a voice against this barbaric act.

Following the  recent outrage that ensued about the discovery of a huge sum of money in a Lagos building, a one time chairman of the People’s Democratic Party has finally explained his connection to it. Adamu Mu’azu, a former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party yesterday disclosed about his connection to the Lagos property where the anti-graft EFCC found over N13 billion hidden in an apartment. According to Premium Times, Mr. Muazu said although he built the property, it was no longer his. Operatives of the EFCC, acting on a tip off on Wednesday, found $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 hidden inside an apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi. The recoveries were valued at N13 billion based on prevailing exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Nigeria. We are in trouble in this country. The problem with this country is and still is ethnicity. And way politicians play politics with the present and future of Nigeria all in a bid to gain political power is appalling.  Jonathan's administration witnessed between 2345-2500 people killed b y Boko Haram and instead of politicians from opposing camp to closer rank and help solve the problem they used inciting words and lies to mobilize the masses against him.
