The website of of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) reported that they have launched a satellite television called Biafra television and a shortwave that will cover most of Africa and even beyond Africa. The frequency of the broadcast is 15560 kHz in the 19 meter band and hours of broadcast for the time being, 7.00 – 9.00 am and 7.00 – 9.00 pm Nigerian time. They also broadcast on FM and internet. This ongoing broadcast has now put a question mark on the claim by Shade Yemi-Esan permanent secretary of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) claim that they have jammed the pirate station and effectively blocked them from broadcasting while briefing journalists last month. The permanent secretary also said that the commission is working with security agencies to get those that are behind the radio station because it is illegal and has no license to operate. Its disheartening that Nigeria, instead of working hard to strenghten and upgrade the local auto industries in the country,  They are instead working hard to bring air conditioned tricycle into the country. Though I am not in support of stealing, but Nigeria is a state were big thieves are celebrated and small one roasted alive. Even the law has a way of letting big criminals off the hook under the blanket name of corruption.   U nder Nigerian law; corruption carr ies a mild penalty of about 6months in imprisonment while stealing carries about 4-6years imprisonment with hard labour. There are strong indications that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission has put the permanent secretaries in the federal ministries on its watch list in line with the ongoing anti-corruption war in the country. This came on the heels of the clampdown on wealthy civil servants by the ICPC, which had already seized 24 properties and several cars from three officials of the Ministry of Niger Delta. The affected officials are Poloma Kabiru Nuhu, Mangset Longyl Dickson and Daniel Obah. Former Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has written to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States that the alleged $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name; was authorized by him in error; from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc. Reports reaching us have it that these men whose pictures appears below were alleged goat thieves. It happened in one of the eastern state of the federation. The villagers stripped them naked and paraded them around the village. Though i personally do not support stealing but i hate it when people still barbaric to their fellow men.
